Initial Setup#

When first setting up the Safeguarding module you should complete the following steps. The readiness check process for each set of functionality can also help to highlight areas you many have overlooked:

The following should be configured:

  • All of the concern types you’d like to use with concern reports are created. See Safeguarding Concern Types for more information.

  • The areas of concern you’d like to use within each concern type are created. See Safeguarding Concern Types for more information.

  • All of the interventions you’d like to use with concern reports should be created. See Concern Report Interventions for more information.

  • The user group containing concern report initial reviewers should be setup and selected in the appropriate setting. See Concern Report Initial Reviewer Notification Group for more information.

  • The user group containing people to be notified when a concern report is rejected should be setup and selected in the appropriate setting. See Concern Report Rejected Notification Group for more information.

  • If you would any users to be automatically copied into all concern reports then check that the user group containing these people is setup and selected in the appropriate setting. See Concern Report Cc Staff Group for more information.

  • The school’s designated safeguarding lead is selected in the app setting. See School Designated Safeguarding Lead for more information.

  • You should also ensure that you have updated any students that have their own assigned safeguarding lead to have that relationship. The system can automatically assign the head of year as the assigned safeguarding lead for students in their year group. See Safeguarding Details for more information.

  • The document categories and sub categories that you’d like to be available have been created. See Safeguarding Document Categories for more information.

  • The note categories and sub categories that the school would like to use should be added. See Safeguarding Note Categories for more information.

  • You should also ensure that the appropriate staff have the correct permissions.

Caution

In order to remain secure, it’s considered a good approach to only assign permissions to people that actually need them. To this end you should ensure that you only provide permissions to staff that need them.

Administrators should be provided additional permissions as required.

More detailed information about using each piece of functionality can be found within the relevant help documentation section.
