Incident Categories#

Incident categories are a way for the school to configure the categories that they would like to have available for selection when managing incidents.


Creating an Incident Category#

To create an incident category click the Incident Categories option from either the Incident or Configuration Lists sections of the side bar. This will open your current list of incident categories.

To add a new incident category, click the Add button from the tables action bar to open the create screen.

The following options are required:

  • Name

    • The name of the category, this is how you’ll identify it.

The following options are available:

  • Description

    • A description of the category and what constitutes an incident that falls into this category.

  • Notification Group

    • When a group is selected they will be automatically copied into an incident when this category is applied.

  • Requires Description

    • Signifies if this category being applied to an incident means that the incident description must be entered.

  • Serious Incident

    • Signifies if this category being applied to an incident means that it is classed as serious.

Once the required fields are complete, click the create button to create the new incident category. You’ll be redirected to the index screen again and see a green popup message letting you know the category was created successfully.


Editing an Existing Incident Category#

To edit an incident category click the Incident Categories option from either the Incident or Configuration Lists sections of the side bar. This will open your current list of incident categories.

Edit an incident category by selecting the corresponding checkbox on the left of the row and clicking the edit button in the tables action bar, or by double clicking the row in the table. This will open the edit screen for the incident category.

You can edit any of the information about the category you need to by changing the relevant fields in the screen. Be sure to click save when you’ve finished so the details are updated. Once saved you’ll be redirected to the index screen again and see a green popup message letting you know the category was updated successfully.


Deleting an Incident Category#

To delete an incident category click the Incident Categories option from either the Incident or Configuration Lists sections of the side bar. This will open your current list of incident categories.

Delete an incident category by selecting the corresponding checkbox on the left of the row and clicking the delete button in the tables action bar. You’ll be asked to confirm your choice before the category is deleted.

Once deleted the category will be removed from the index screen and a green popup message will confirm it was deleted successfully.

This page is available to users with the following roles:

  • Staff Members

    • Available with permission
