Time Slot Groups#

Time Slot Groups are ways to group collections of time slot entries together. These form the list of available time slots that a resource can be booked for.

Creating a Time Slot Group#

To create a new time slot group select the Create option from the Time Slot Groups section of the side menu.

You should complete all of the required fields including:

  • Name

    • The resources name.

  • Entry Type

    • The type of entries that can be created for resources to be booked against. See Entry Types for more information.

Once complete click the save button to create the time slot group.

Tip

You won’t be able to change the entry type after creation.

Editing a Time Slot Group#

To edit an existing time slot group select the View / Edit option from the Time Slot Groups section of the side menu. This will load the current list of time slot types.

You can edit the information directly from this table, simply click the value you want to change to bring up the edit field.

Enter your new value and click off of the edit field, the changes will be saved automatically and a toast message will confirm this.

You can update the time slot groups name and description as required.

Tip

You won’t be able to change the entry type if there are any active entries within the time slot group.

Tip

You can’t edit any information for a system time slot group as these are controlled by the system and drive more complex processes.

Deleting a Time Slot Group#

To delete an existing time slot group select the View / Edit option from the Time Slot Groups section of the side menu. This will load the current list of time slot types.

Select the desired time slot group by checking the corresponding checkbox and clicking the delete icon on the tables action bar. You’ll be asked to confirm the action before the resource types are deleted.

Tip

You won’t be able to delete a time slot group if it has active resource types assigned to it. You’ll need to delete those resource types first.

Entry Types#

The entry types that are available define the structure of the entries that can be made, they allow different sets of rules to be enforced when entries are created.

Custom Time Period#

This entry type allows for a time period to be specified by the user at the time of booking.

This enforces that resources using entries of this type are booked using a timeline format. They don’t have fixed start and end times so a user can book starting and ending at any time.

Tip

This entry type does not allow time slot entries to be added as they would be irrelevant since the user specifies the time period at the time of booking.

Fixed Time Period#

This entry type allows for a time period to be specified (up to a maximum of 23 hours and 59 minutes).

This enforces that resources using entries of this type are booked using a calendar format. They don’t have fixed start times that they use so a user can book starting at any time, but the booking lasts for the amount of time defined in the time slot entry.

For example, you may setup 3 hour or 5 hour time slots for this resource being available.

Fixed Start and End Time#

This entry type allows for a start and end time to be specified.

This enforces that resources using entries of this type are booked using these time slots only. The user chooses a date but must then select one of the defined slots.

Tip

This works well for resources that are more restricted in their availability, ie. school day periods or resources that are booked by fixed windows of time each day.

An example of this would be that you may setup the periods of the school day where they have a fixed start and end time, say 08:30 to 09:30.
