Grade Ranges#

Grade Ranges are a way to define a collection of grades that can be assigned to a piece of work for a student. For example, GCSE grades 1-9.

To view the Grade Ranges configured within the system click the Grade Ranges option from the Configuration Lists section of the side menu. You’ll be shown a list of the currently configured grade ranges.


Creating a New Range#

To add a new Grade Range, click the Add button on the tables action bar. The create view will be loaded, here you can enter the desired information before clicking the Create button to save the new Grade Range.

  • Required Fields

    • Name

      • A name to identify the Grade Range.

  • Optional Fields

    • Description

      • A description to help provide more information about the grade range.

Once created you’ll be taken back to the grade range list and a green popup message will be shown to confirm the grade range was created.


Editing an Existing Grade Range#

To edit a Grade Range simply select the field you’d like to update, modify it’s value and click out of the edit box that is displayed. Your changes are saved automatically and confirmed with a green popup message.

Tip

You won’t be able to edit a system grade range. These are generally grade ranges specified by the Department for Education and should therefore not be changed in any way by the school.

To edit the Grades within a Grade Range, select the corresponding items checkbox and click the edit button on the tables action bar. This will open the Grades view.

Adding a New Grade#

To add a new Grade, click the Add button on the tables action bar. This will open the Add Grade view.

  • Required Fields

    • Display Order

      • The numerical order in which this grade should be displayed within a drop down list.

    • Numerical Value

      • A numerical equivalent value for the grade. This allows us to perform automated analysis and can be left as “0”.

    • Value

      • A value for the grade. For example, GCSE Grade 1 would have “1” in this option.

  • Optional Fields

    • Description

      • A description for the grade used to provide additional context.

You’ll need to complete the desired information and click the Create button to save the new Grade. Once saved you’ll be taken back to the current grades for the selected Grade Range and a green popup message will confirm the new Grade was created.

Editing an Existing Grade#

To edit an existing grade, click the field you’d like to change, update the value and click off of the textbox. Your changes will be saved automatically and confirmed by a green popup message.

Tip

You won’t be able to edit a system grade. These are generally grades specified by the Department for Education and should therefore not be changed in any way by the school.

Deleting a Grade#

To delete a Grade, select the corresponding checkbox and click the delete button on the tables action bar. You’ll be asked to confirm the deletion before the item is deleted.


Deleting a Grade Range#

To delete a Grade Range select the corresponding items checkbox and click the delete button on the tables action bar. You’ll be asked to confirm the deletion before the item is permanently deleted.

Danger

Take care when deleting Grade Ranges, the deletion is likely to have wide spread effects if you delete the incorrect item.

Tip

You won’t be able to delete a Grade Range that has active grades within it. You’ll need to delete the Grades first.
