Valid SMS Message Characters#

The characters that are valid for use in an SMS message are those that appear within the GSM-7 character set. Of these characters most will use a single character within your SMS messages but a select few will use 2 characters instead of 1.

Characters that Consume Multiple Characters in an SMS#

It’s unlikely that many, if any of these characters will appear very often in your SMS messages. When they do, they count as 2 characters not 1.
